Curvy Kate X Savoo for Against Breast Cancer (Breast Cancer Awareness Month)
Three ways to look after your chest
Happy October: the month our minds all turn to spooky season, pumpkin lattes and rain! But did you know that October also marks the start of breast cancer awareness month?
In the UK…
- Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer and…
- Roughly 150 people are diagnosed with breast cancer every day
This month we’re raising money for Against Breast Cancer using fundraising platform and discount site Savoo: every time a Curvy Kate discount code is used, Savoo will make a donation to Against Breast Cancer.
Looking after your chest is as easy as 1, 2, 3! Check out our sacred pillars of chest health below to do right by yourself this Autumn.
- Wear the correct sized bra
A day where all your outfits look flawless and you have relief from all sorts of body aches. Too good to be true? By joining the 20% of people wearing the right sized bra, you’ll get that feeling every day!
Not only will wearing the right sized bra band eliminate cutting, you can say goodbye to that neck and shoulder pain by finding the right straps.
Start by throwing away the bras that are the wrong size! For those eco-warriors amongst you, you can use the bra recycling scheme from charity, Against Breast Cancer, to support both your chest and a great cause.
Then, once those old bras have made space in your wardrobe, head right to our bra fitting guidance pages to get acquainted with your great day-maker!
2. Pick the right bra for the occasion
Just like your favourite jacket isn’t right for every day, all bras were not created equal. It benefits you to have a comprehensive bra wardrobe so you can wear anything without worrying about nips, slips, or runaway straps!
Ideally you should have most, if not all of these key bra types to achieve a complete bra wardrobe that can take you from a lazy morning, to a jog in the park, to date night, to the morning after.
1. A t-shirt bra
A smooth, neatly fitting bra that you can wear underneath a tighter top. Best in a neutral colour to be worn every day! Find a t-shirt bra style you love and purchase several: they’ll get plenty of wear.
For special occasions: give yourself support and confidence to live your best life, no matter your neckline.
3. A sports bra
It’s especially important for larger breast sizes to stay comfortable while exercising. Our sports bra was featured on This Morning and Lorraine!
4. A plunge bra
Our favourite solution to breast sweat! The style is non-padded, breathable, and great for summer days (and summer nights!)
5. That one sexy lingerie set you feel great in
No underwear drawer is complete without a lingerie set in just the right colour and fit. Check out the flattering cuts and tacticle fabrics in the Curvy Kate Scantilly range.
3. Check yourself for breast cancer
It may be breast cancer awareness month in October, but your chest requires your attention every month of the year! This is the case no matter your breast size or which gender you identify with.
There are tonnes of useful tools at your disposal for a self check, like the monthly text reminders from Coppafeel, or this guide from Against Breast Cancer.
Get to know the ‘breast aware’ 5 point plan
- Know what’s normal for you
- Look at your breasts and feel them
- Know what changes to look for
- Report any changes without delay
- Attend routine screening if you’re 50 or over
Medical professionals do recommend that those who have a family history of breast cancer or are over the age of 50 should be getting regular checks from their GP instead of relying on their own checks.
This year Curvy Kate is working with fundraising platform and discount code site Savoo to raise money for Against Breast Cancer. For every Curvy Kate purchase made using our exclusive 11% discount code (found on the Savoo discount page), a donation will be made on your behalf, to support the incredible work that Against Breast Cancer does.
